so, i already want to sign up for next year's race..... but, to tell you the truth, i can think about training in Montreal, and I don't think that I can handle it. but, oh man... i already want to do it soooooo bad.... in addition,


i love this place. i love the architecture, I love the cafes on the streets, i love the multiculturalism. I love that the people i have met here, i feel like i have known them forever. they have been my friends forever, and everyone here is for one reason: the 70.3 tomorrow.

This city is crazy, and when i think about how much this race is bringing into the city, i think that it is so good for it. it is a city that is not physically active. A city that has had so much devestation, and needs so much help. so, to have 3000+ athletes coming and throwing money into the economy, and showing people what it takes to do a ridiculous feat of athleticism.






I have now set up my gear, filled my bottles, and collected my nutrition. it is about bedtime, and i know that all i can do is all i can do. so, here we go.

beautiful city, beautiful people, and a beautiful goal. I am as ready as possible! and, it is really so exciting!

Syracuse 70.3 race report

so, let's just start with a comment that I think this sport is hilarious . the things we do (and, read on, you will get some in this report) are ridiculous. Not only because we think that waking up at 4:30 am to go and get your exercise on for 5+ hours straight is fun, but we do things that in normal society would be considered completely inappropriate and people would wonder if you need a psych consult. i find it hilarious the pre-race rituals we have. the need to wear a "i've done an ironman" shirt to race check-in, rather than normal street clothes. the carting around of a gallon water bottle day before a race. the food we eat, and the abnormal sleep schedules we keep. hilarious. pre-race prep was pretty normal. I got to syracuse at about 6pm on friday, and meet Kelly Covert , her husband (also kelly covert!) and boys Noah and Ryan. Its been a while since I have posted.  It has also been a great month, with lots on the plate of things to do. I have finally started getting back to exercising on a pretty regular basis and anticipating the next year of training for Challenge Penticton in August.  It has included talking and seeing and loving puppies, in the anticipating of our family growing in the new year with a new little munchkin.  It has included going walking in the woods for a lovely spruce tree in anticipation of our first christmas as a family.  It has included the initiation of a small group in our home every 2 weeks, in anticipation of growing community among the "Gen X's and Y's" at St James Anglican church.  It has included a christmas party or two.
