End of Maternity Leave

Well, I must admit, this past year has gone quite quickly!   As the saying goes: "the days might be long, but the time is short."   I have definitely felt that!

Despite the hard times in the last year, it has been really really amazing.  I have accomplished a lot, and I have things to show for it.  This is a list of things that I have done, which don't include raising a child.
  • Sewed a play tent for Haines.
  • Got our garage door fixed.
  • Painted all the trim (that I can reach) on our house. 
  • Rebuilt our front and back porch stairs.
  • Sanded and re-stained our back porch and wood pillars.
  • Built a wood fire place backing and mantle.
  • Sanded and Painted wooden blocks for Haines.
  • Started renovating my mothers kitchen
  • Sorted a helluva lot of boxes at my mum's and tossed out old crap.
  • Did two triathlons. 
  • Organized a Gravel Fondo
  • Wrote my will, personal directive & power of attorney
  • Finished (with my in-laws) our back yard fence. 
Can anyone remember anything else that I did?  This is a pretty decent list...

Syracuse 70.3 race report

so, let's just start with a comment that I think this sport is hilarious . the things we do (and, read on, you will get some in this report) are ridiculous. Not only because we think that waking up at 4:30 am to go and get your exercise on for 5+ hours straight is fun, but we do things that in normal society would be considered completely inappropriate and people would wonder if you need a psych consult. i find it hilarious the pre-race rituals we have. the need to wear a "i've done an ironman" shirt to race check-in, rather than normal street clothes. the carting around of a gallon water bottle day before a race. the food we eat, and the abnormal sleep schedules we keep. hilarious. pre-race prep was pretty normal. I got to syracuse at about 6pm on friday, and meet Kelly Covert , her husband (also kelly covert!) and boys Noah and Ryan. Its been a while since I have posted.  It has also been a great month, with lots on the plate of things to do. I have finally started getting back to exercising on a pretty regular basis and anticipating the next year of training for Challenge Penticton in August.  It has included talking and seeing and loving puppies, in the anticipating of our family growing in the new year with a new little munchkin.  It has included going walking in the woods for a lovely spruce tree in anticipation of our first christmas as a family.  It has included the initiation of a small group in our home every 2 weeks, in anticipation of growing community among the "Gen X's and Y's" at St James Anglican church.  It has included a christmas party or two. It also includes a contest...  Our fabulous wedding photographers have an "I like it the most" contest;  we aren't in first place, but on a good go for second... maybe we can do a last push to first!!!  Please go and com
