very VERY briefly...


  1. lots of lessons learnt this week.  i want to write more about them, but, i have to decide what i want to write.
  2.  FINISHED and handed in my final paper (pretty much.  still have to do finishing touches on my research proposal for may 6th) for the term.  It was a 19 pager of the most beautiful BS i have every written.  was written on 3 nights of about 4-5hrs sleep each.  ugh! so tired.  Last night was the first night since last sunday that i have slept over 6hrs.  heavenly.  i am SO relieved to have everything done!!!!  
  3. only one month of clinical left for school this year, then i am done for the summer.  YAY!  
  4. spending the weekend (HAPPY EASTER!) in Jasper alberta, HERE with the boy i like.  it is going to involve biking in the sunshine, playing in the mountains, eating delicious food.  and snuggling.  yes.  lots of snuggling.  Pretty much the best way to spend the end of a recovery week, and easter.

Syracuse 70.3 race report

so, let's just start with a comment that I think this sport is hilarious . the things we do (and, read on, you will get some in this report) are ridiculous. Not only because we think that waking up at 4:30 am to go and get your exercise on for 5+ hours straight is fun, but we do things that in normal society would be considered completely inappropriate and people would wonder if you need a psych consult. i find it hilarious the pre-race rituals we have. the need to wear a "i've done an ironman" shirt to race check-in, rather than normal street clothes. the carting around of a gallon water bottle day before a race. the food we eat, and the abnormal sleep schedules we keep. hilarious. pre-race prep was pretty normal. I got to syracuse at about 6pm on friday, and meet Kelly Covert , her husband (also kelly covert!) and boys Noah and Ryan. Nursing: Graduation and Jobs!

It is pretty amazing to think about the last few years of my life... in many ways.  I remember the day that I wrote the MCAT in the Fall of 2008, and knew on that day that my life would not be aimed towards becoming a physician.  I was a bit lost, because that is what I had thought I wanted to do for many many years.  I knew that, but, I also knew what I was passionate about:  the physical body and health care, helping people, community, and (well... africa).  The thing that I thought about being doctor, was the extreme amount of "influence" that they can have on people.... Life changing.  But, I also forgot about all the other professions that can be equally influential. through a journey that I don't necessarily need to outline again, I found nursing. And, boy, am I ever glad that I did.  Nursing has changed by life, my perspective, and makes me exceptionally excited about the career that I have ahead of me.   The last three years at McGill, in the direct-entry progra
