Fall days

It's raining and it's the fall.  October apparently had the most frequent days in a row of rain that has ever happened.  Like, 28 of 31 days or something crazy like that.  Bleh. 

Let's talk about happy things! 
Once again, I am stoked to represent Betty Designs in 2017!  This team has been such a wonderful group to be a part of.  Not just amazing gear, but the friendships and fun.  I'm excited for new pursuits (hello, off road triathlon!) and for continuing to build my connection with this group of amazing women! 


I'm in a Friday night social league.  This sport is a whole lot of fun & perfect for the dreary nights.  Getting to know a different group of people in Squamish (ahem, the former mayor was my skip for a week), and learning something that requires a totally different set of skills than what I use in racing. 


My doggie.  She's the best and oh so hilarious. We are also nearing the one year anniversary of getting her first head lump removed, and she's still with us.  I'm grateful for that.

Also: interesting observation.  When we moved to Squamish, there was reportabley a dearth of Christians in the region.  However, odd thing is that we have come to realize that the majority of the people we are meeting here are Christians. Not the typical "brand" that we have traditionally known, but I'd say more Christians than who we were hanging out with in Vancouver.  So... We're still not chilling with Anglicans, or getting the Eucharist regularly, but I do think we can anticipate having a good Christian community around us.  I also think it will expose us to a community that we are not used to being in... Which is good. 

So, that's a quick update.

Syracuse 70.3 race report

so, let's just start with a comment that I think this sport is hilarious . the things we do (and, read on, you will get some in this report) are ridiculous. Not only because we think that waking up at 4:30 am to go and get your exercise on for 5+ hours straight is fun, but we do things that in normal society would be considered completely inappropriate and people would wonder if you need a psych consult. i find it hilarious the pre-race rituals we have. the need to wear a "i've done an ironman" shirt to race check-in, rather than normal street clothes. the carting around of a gallon water bottle day before a race. the food we eat, and the abnormal sleep schedules we keep. hilarious. pre-race prep was pretty normal. I got to syracuse at about 6pm on friday, and meet Kelly Covert , her husband (also kelly covert!) and boys Noah and Ryan. So, I have recently made a vow that I would never again write a race report on the same day as a race.  Well, that has been nixed for this race.  and, I guess the reason is because... I  know  it is going to be a race report that has no potential to be anything but good :)

Its been a while since I have posted.  It has also been a great month, with lots on the plate of things to do. I have finally started getting back to exercising on a pretty regular basis and anticipating the next year of training for Challenge Penticton in August.  It has included talking and seeing and loving puppies, in the anticipating of our family growing in the new year with a new little munchkin.  It has included going walking in the woods for a lovely spruce tree in anticipation of our first christmas as a family.  It has included the initiation of a small group in our home every 2 weeks, in anticipation of growing community among the "Gen X's and Y's" at St James Anglican church.  It has included a christmas party or two. It also includes a contest...  Our fabulous wedding photographers have an "I like it the most" contest;  we aren't in first place, but on a good go for second... maybe we can do a last push to first!!!  Please go and com
