Off season initiatives!

It is Mid-November!  Already!  People are already thinking about Christmas!!! To me, that is crazy. Time flies when life is busy, and boy, has it every been.  With the "off season," done, it is a time to not think about sports, re-connect with loved ones and the couch, and get vamped for the next year.  This year, however, I realize that I have taken too much on during this time.   I know this, because I constantly feel like there is something else to do, and I am not binge watching any television shows.  I simply don't have time! I have been filling my time with Board work for Leading Edge Triathlon Club .  2015 is going to be a big season, with possibly some large exciting differences to come!!!  However, this takes a lot of work.  Especially with the upcoming AGM~ I am thankful for the awesome people on the board, who take the work seriously & are fun to work with.  I trust them implicitly. Cycling for strongkids

I am about to do a shameless plug, for a GREAT cause.  Two years ago, I joined my uncle (and two cousins) on a day during his ride from Victoria to Thunder Bay to raise money for YMCA Strongkids Campaign.  here we are eating doughnut's at Tim Hortons.   Here we are, working the doughnuts off. My uncle don is our family's athletic inspiration.  He did Ironman Canada in the 80's, and has been racing triathlon ever since.  He generally enters, sometimes doesn't run (as his knees are a bit worn out now...), and had fun the whole way.  He goes to the YMCA at least 2x a day, and Tim Hortons at least once.  He is a lawyer in Mississauga, ON.  His 3 kids have done triathlons, I do triathlon, my neice used to go out and visit him every summer, and he made her do triathlons, and he has inspired my cousin Rob (the younger fellow in these photos) to do Ironman Canada this year. And he believes in the fight against childhood obesity. ...

There are some pretty exciting things happening in life right now... despite TOO many things happening in life, I know that everything is just rolling along at a decent pace, that this feeling of having too much stuff to do will not last forever, and that right now it is essential.  It is just CRAZY how different everything feels from being in Malawi. but, one of the things about being in Malawi, is being able to be involved in amazing causes.  This past weekend, I met with a few people about WHEAMS, and the process of making WHEAMS a canadian charitable organization.  Also about what our roles are probably going to be, in taking up this initiative.  folks, you may be taking to a co-chair of WHEAMS in Canada.  woooooOOOOOoooooo!  So, one of the things that will consistently be on my mind, is how can I help to raise money for the fantastic work that is being done? And, this is one thing that can happen. do you shop?  for food, for groceri...
