pushing your comfort levels!

Today I sent out two emails.  One to 3 people, the other to hundreds.  If you are reading this, you may have received one of them.  I sent out both emails, then I went out to a movie with my love.  On my way home, i was thinking about the butterflies of uncertainty that I was experiencing in my stomach.  So, we talked about it. (and ps:if you go a see Thor 2, stay until the end of the credits.  its worth it.) The first email included a request of people who may make for a professional and career mentor. The second was a email contact list clean up, but also a request for people to buy gift cards for Warm Heart Initiatives.   And, what I find curious, is that despite these two topics being super positive things, and two topics that I believe are important, it still makes me have a sense of nervousness in sending them.  Because, despite being things that lead to good outcomes, sometimes it feels that I can be a burden if I ask other people to...

Its been a while since I have posted.  It has also been a great month, with lots on the plate of things to do. I have finally started getting back to exercising on a pretty regular basis and anticipating the next year of training for Challenge Penticton in August.  It has included talking and seeing and loving puppies, in the anticipating of our family growing in the new year with a new little munchkin.  It has included going walking in the woods for a lovely spruce tree in anticipation of our first christmas as a family.  It has included the initiation of a small group in our home every 2 weeks, in anticipation of growing community among the "Gen X's and Y's" at St James Anglican church.  It has included a christmas party or two. It also includes a contest...  Our fabulous wedding photographers have an "I like it the most" contest;  we aren't in first place, but on a good go for second... maybe we can do a last push to first!!!  Please go ...

BIG WEEK! I'm almost there!

There, being where?!?!!? there being New Orleans .  There being back home in Vancouver .  There being done my assignments .  Done being job searching.   There are so many things going on right now!  so, i am going to hit a few points: triathlon, Malawi, and school.   Triathlon:  It's kinda amazing, because the fact that I am doing a 70.3 in 8 days has kinda snuck up on me.  I know that I haven't talked much about triathlon this spring, because... well... sometimes I wonder how interesting it is to people?!?!?  I do  think that there is so much more in this world (and, consequently, in my life) worth talking about.  Not that it isn't interesting... but, it's narrow.  And, I wish that this blog can reach a large group of readers.  Not just people who do triathlon. that being said.... I am SUPER excited about this race.  Mostly, because I feel spot on.  Now, I have no data to back that up.  Not really...

New week, new book... GIVING THANKS

So, a little bit more of a "godly" post. This week has been challenging, in many ways.  I think that was clear in my last post.  but SO SO SO many things to be thankful about.  i think it started out with a great service at church yesterday... we are working through Acts, and we read Chapter 14.  and, i just loved it... I don't really expect that Paul and Barnabas were expecting the reaction they got from the crowd after then performed their miracle... "Um.  wait a minute... we aren't gods.  God is God. Not us! shoot.  that's not what we meant for you to think." Can we say "cultural mis-understanding?!?!" how often do cultural understandings like that happen in our lives... maybe more often for some people, than others... but, every time they do happen... kinda funny. we also, during our version of the  prayers of the people  , we started talking/listing things to be thankful for.  and, it definently helps to list those things out ...

There are some pretty exciting things happening in life right now... despite TOO many things happening in life, I know that everything is just rolling along at a decent pace, that this feeling of having too much stuff to do will not last forever, and that right now it is essential.  It is just CRAZY how different everything feels from being in Malawi. but, one of the things about being in Malawi, is being able to be involved in amazing causes.  This past weekend, I met with a few people about WHEAMS, and the process of making WHEAMS a canadian charitable organization.  Also about what our roles are probably going to be, in taking up this initiative.  folks, you may be taking to a co-chair of WHEAMS in Canada.  woooooOOOOOoooooo!  So, one of the things that will consistently be on my mind, is how can I help to raise money for the fantastic work that is being done? And, this is one thing that can happen. do you shop?  for food, for groceri...
